Resumo
Introdução: A potência muscular é uma capacidade física fundamental para o militar. Compreender o quanto do desempenho de potência muscular é explicado pela força pode contribuir para o planejamento do TFM voltado para a aptidão muscular.
Objetivo: Estimar a magnitude da correlação linear de força com potência muscular de membros superiores em adultos jovens do sexo masculino, militares do Exército Brasileiro.
Métodos: Estudo observacional seccional com amostragem por conveniência, composta por 20 militares do Exército Brasileiro, do sexo masculino, todos com pelo menos três anos de experiência em treinamento físico militar. Os participantes realizaram o teste de 1 RM no supino reto com barra livre para medir a força máxima e o teste de arremesso de medicine ball para avaliar a potência muscular. A correlação linear entre as variáveis foi analisada por meio do coeficiente de correlação produto-momento de Pearson e sua magnitude foi estimada pelo R2.
Resultados: Os resultados mostraram uma correlação positiva significativa de magnitude moderada (r = 0,677; p = 0,001; R2 (%) = 45,83%) entre a força máxima e a potência muscular de membros superiores.
Conclusão: Os resultados demonstraram a magnitude do efeito da força no composto potência muscular e confirmaram o modelo teórico-conceitual dessa capacidade física que engloba o produto das capacidades físicas força e velocidade.
